Claude finally has official Indian rupee pricing. Anthropic started rolling out INR-denominated subscription plans in India on July 13, 2026 โ Claude Pro, Max, and Team โ ending the era of Indian users paying in dollars and eating currency-conversion fees on every renewal. India is Claude’s second-largest market after the US, accounting for 5.8% of global usage, so this was overdue.

Anthropic began showing rupee pricing directly on Claude’s website and mobile apps for users in India starting July 13, 2026. Here’s exactly what’s listed:

My take: the India prices land noticeably above raw USD-to-INR conversion. At the live mid-market rate (โน95.75/$1 as of July 31, 2026, per Wise/XE), a $17/month Pro plan converts to roughly โน1,628 โ not โน2,000. That’s a ~23% gap, more than GST (18%) alone accounts for, which suggests Anthropic built in some rounding or margin on top of the straight tax pass-through, not just a tax-inclusive conversion. Worth knowing before you assume the rupee price is purely “USD price plus tax.”
All India prices include local taxes (GST), so what you see at checkout should be close to the final amount โ no separate tax line added afterward, unlike the old dollar-billing flow where GST got applied on top of the converted charge.
One gap in current coverage: Claude Max’s higher “20x” tier (which runs $200/month in the US) hadn’t been given a specific INR figure in Anthropic’s initial rollout as of this writing. If you’re on Max 20x, check the price shown directly in your Claude account rather than assuming a simple multiple of the โน11,999 entry-tier figure.

The real win here isn’t necessarily a lower price โ it’s predictability. Dollar billing meant your Claude subscription cost a slightly different amount in rupees every month depending on the exchange rate, plus whatever your card issuer charged for a foreign currency transaction. INR billing removes both variables.
What’s Still Missing: No UPI Support
This is the one place Anthropic is visibly behind. As of this rollout, Claude does not support UPI (Unified Payments Interface) โ the payment method most Indians actually use day to day. You still have to pay by card, or through Apple’s or Google’s app store billing on mobile.
That’s a real gap next to the competition: OpenAI rolled out Indian rupee pricing for ChatGPT back in August 2025 with UPI support included from day one. For a market where UPI processes billions of transactions a month, shipping rupee pricing without it is a half-measure โ useful, but not the full localization Indian users have been asking for.

INR pricing didn’t happen in isolation โ it’s the latest step in a deliberate India expansion:
- February 2026: Anthropic opened its Bengaluru office (first announced October 2025).
- January 2026: Former Microsoft India managing director Irina Ghose was appointed to lead Anthropic’s India business.
